Teaching Today's Teachers to Teach Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Teaching Today's Teachers to Teach - Essay Example Griggs uses Psalm 78 as a basis for his argument, but this is an argument that I cannot support. While I believe that children must be a priority for the church in regards to teaching, I believe that the same Psalm suggests the very opposite in the first stanza of the Psalm. The Psalmist says ââ¬Å"Give ear, O my people, to my teachingâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ The Psalmist does not suggest that children should be the first priority here but rather the opposite. Take the West End Baptist Church as an example to illustrate this point. Greater emphasis is placed on Biblical learning for younger people and not enough for the senior persons of the church. As a result, there is an ineffective Christian Education Department not because of the teachers but because of misplaced emphasis. The philosophy that Iââ¬â¢ve struggled to implement is to teach the parents and the children. There can be no direct distinction between the two; they are equally important entities for the modern day church, just a s they were for the early church. I further do not support the statement that ââ¬Å"too many pastors donââ¬â¢t see teaching as their responsibility.â⬠In order for preaching to be effective, it has to contain certain teaching elements. Otherwise it is simply entertainment. Any pastor who does not see the importance of teaching, from the pulpit, bible study group, church school, or by any other means through which we teach GODââ¬â¢s word, is in the wrong business. I assessed all the pastors I knew, both male and female, and I could not think of one who would allow a novice teach the bible on behalf of them. I liked the following quote from the book: ââ¬Å"too often we ask the newest, youngest, and least experienced members of our churches to do the teaching.â⬠This suggests that the pastor is negligent in the handling of Godââ¬â¢s word and His people. As I compared the West End Baptist Church with the reading

I used this software as it is simple to use for setting up and provides the most commonly used spreadsheet package . This means that the most of the people who are able to use the pc and use Excel , and I know that the employees at PC systems who will be using the system can use the software . I collected the data for the spreadsheet by contacting Pc Systems contacting office , materials and extra and for the pc parts and other information I used from the PC Systems website. How to record the macros on the user interface and all pages Firstly I used clip are as shown below to get the pictures for my user interface: Below is how I opened the clipart menu Once the clip are menu is opened I searched for the following items for the pictures to come up that I used for my interface clip art menu The following clip art images I used for my interface as shown below MACROS Once the pictures are in place I now can record the macros I need to navigate around the spreadsheet as shown below . Step 1 : Firstly I needed to click on tools then macro and then record new macro as shown below Step 2 Then I give a name for my macro .eg macro 1 then press OK Step 3 Now you will see a little play and pause button icon as shown below Step 4 Now I have to select the destination of the macro as you can see at the bottom of the worksheets there are named worksheets eg when I made the customer details macro I will do the following as shown below. Once customer details has been selected I then clicked stop on the macro button as shown below . Step 5 once I had clicked stop I then clicked on the picture which was relevant to customer details as shown below then right click on the picture and select assign macro as shown here Step 6 Then once it has opened now I will select the macro I have just made to link it with the button as show below Once macro 1 is found then click OK and the macro works and it links to the customer worksheet. I did this to all my macros which are link on the user inter face as shown below I used the same method on all 4 of them. I also have navigation buttons on the other worksheets to return to the user interface so the user can move around my spreadsheet quick and efficiently. VBA code : Vba code is useful for producing message boxes , and are easy to do as shown below and again they are linked to my picture Help I opened vba up as by pressing ALT, F11 together and this screen should appear: (1) (2) entering the code as shown below into vba . I have included the following message for the user so if they have problems with the software or with any formulas or buttons they can contact the helpline so I can help them and guide them in the write direction . Now right click on the picture as I said before and assign macro and then choose helpline and once it is done the outcome is Now I am going to make an exit button using vba so the user can exit excel immediately and saving there work at the same time .using this button below .this method is used again by right clicking on the picture and assigning the macro as shown below : Then open up VBA as shown above. Now enter the code as shown below Once this coded is entered I linked it with my button as shown in the other example and the out come should be as shown below ..first click on the exit icon then this message box will appear If no then If yes then application quits successfully. Named ranges Once I have entered the stock information into my spreadsheet I need to name the ranges to use them in a v look up .to make it easier for the use to make calculations and search for the criteria needed to run the system correctly Step 1 I highlighted customer details as shown below Then I named the highlighted items customerddd as shown below using the toolbar as shown below :then I pressed enter so that it confirms that the name has been changed and is saved . I used this method to name all of my ranges and named them appropriately. To show all of the named ranges I did the following InserName define Then this toolbox opens showing all the named ranges and the formulas in the specific range as shown below . here you can add names and delete them . V-look ups Combo boxes A combo box sometimes called a drop down box is a list of items from which you can choose one item of data.To open the combo box menu I needed to right click on the mouse and select forms as shown below : Once I have clicked on the forms the menu below opened : As shown above I then selected the combo box item, then I drew the combo box in the correct column to make it look professional as shown below . Once I drew the combo boxes they need to be linked to a Vlookup and I need to format the control to link with the specific sell eg, product number as shown below(2) (1) (2) First I had to right click on the combo box and select the format control as shown below Spinners A spinner button enables you to increase or decrease the value of a number in a cell by clicking the control. firstly I right clicked on the excel tool bar and selected forms as shown below . Then I selected the spinner from this menu choice as shown below . Then I drew the spinner on my spreadsheet as shown below : Then I needed to format the spinner to a specific cell to make calculations as shown below .i firstly right clicked on the spinner and the menu below appeared I then selected format control as shown below and the following message box appeared . Evaluation In my evaluation I will first of all consider each of the end user requirements stated in the specification in turn and my objectives , and evaluate the success of below are my general objectives Start up screen and Homepage buttons and links to all the pages back and forth . I have met this objective as My spreadsheet has a start up screen and various buttons which were requested by the user so the user can move around the spreadsheet efficiently and are able to open and close worksheets also there are 2 other buttons which I used vb code so if the user gets stuck or damages the spreadsheet they contact the help line also there is a save and exit button which will make a back up of the work for future reference and a print button eg. For the output of the invoice as needed which will save a lot of time compared to the old system where everything is done by paper and when a record needs to be found it took a long time and even got lost on the other hand the spreadsheet saves records and time and is much more reliable and efficient compared to the old system Various work sheets such as , hardware sheet ,invoice sheet etc I have met this objective as there are 4 separate work sheets to separate the collection of data (stock) and the output(invoice) 4 separate sheets helps the user move around the interface smoothly as he can open and close the preferred work sheet as needed Automatically store customer details and what they have bought. Once item is bought it is taken away from the stock. Protect the work sheet so no formulas can be altered by the user . Use formulas to calculate total cost and vat etc Labels to help the customer when moving on to a button option boxes to let the user choose the best product eg memory for them Limitations In the system there are various limitations I have recognised. In one of my validations it wasnt accurate as when I typed in incorrect data the error message wasnt displayed . this would then create inaccurate data as the user wouldnt be aware of there mistakes Improvements In the system there are various improvements that can be made to improve the overall system Also to improve my system I would create a separate spreadsheet that contains each customers details of the products they have previously bought and what they have ordered so the end user knows what the existing customers have bought so the user can deciide to give discount for spending so much money etc valuable customer. End user comments I arranged a meeting with mr Anderson who will be using the system to see how he feels about It and helps reduce work load that he originally had to do . I first of all gave the end user a couple of days to familiarise to the new system Here are the end user comments : * The deign is practical and doesnt irate the eyes the colour is restful and doesnt distract the users attention . * Navigation is easy , as is adding and deleting information * Alternating through the worksheets are very easy * The out out of the system (the invoice) are very organise and very consistant * The macros , formulas and v look ups help reduce lots of manual imput which saves time . * There are few errors made as validation used on different data helps keep data accurate and up to date My overall comments I think my design is reliable and easy to use , there are only a few things that I can change and they are mentioned in my improvements , I think I have reduced massed amounts of user input compared to the paper work what they had to do before which took allot of time and effort , also the system looks professional and is very efficient and is very user friendly. User guide Contents page Description Page Introduction / Installing / Opening the system Functions of the user interface Customer sheet Entering customer details Deleting customer details Introduction Welcome to the Invoicing System. Taquan Evans Sister Robinson British Literature Final How Being Nice Can Get You Further Than Others Do you know two people who have the exact same job, but one person gets much more successful results solely because they are more nice and caring than the other person? I know if I was dealing with a person I would like them to be respectful and caring of my feelings depending on the situation. If they werenââ¬â¢t then we would more than likely be in a hostile situation. Having a respectful and courteous attitude will make you more approachable and comfortable to talk to. In the novel Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe there is a perfect example of this, with Mr. Brown and Reverend Smith. Mr. Brown won more converts than Reverend Smith because he listens to and cares for the people of the Umuofia clan. Some people in the Umuofia clan think of Mr. Brown as a psychologist. He is a person that they can go to and talk to without being criticized and ridiculed by their clan members. Through Mr. Brownââ¬â¢s Christian therapy, people learn about themselves. They discover ways to overcome difficulties, develop inner strengths or skills, or make changes in themselves or their situations. ââ¬Å"Often, it feels good just to have a person to vent to, and other times it's useful to learn different techniques to help deal with stress.â⬠-Earl Hunt, Ph.D. Already having dealt with the missionaries in Mbanta, Okonkwo is now forced to deal with them in his own village. However, Mr. Brown, their leader, is far more enlightened than the average white colonist. Although he doesnââ¬â¢t really understand Igbo beliefs, he is capable of respecting them, and he does not want his converts to antagonize the clan. He seems to share the clanââ¬â¢s value of peaceful, harmonious ... ...es to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for ââ¬Å"God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.â⬠Mr. Brown builds a hospital and a school. He begs the villagers to send their children to school and warns them that if they do not, strangers who can read and write will come to rule them. His arguments are fairly effective, at first, people only send their lazy children. But more and more people begin to go as they realize that the ability to read and write opens up great social mobility. The DC is surrounded by Africans from Umaru; these literate Africans earn high wages and how power in Umuofia. Mr. Brown's school begins to produce results. His hospital wins praise for its treatments.

Analysis Of Mark Strand?s ?kee :: essays research papers
Although itââ¬â¢s not a lengthy poem, the few words and their layout in ââ¬Å"Keeping Things Wholeâ⬠certainly possess great significance. This poem is centered on the idea that the narratorââ¬â¢s life is lacking purpose. In exploring the meaning of his existence, he determined that his reason for living was to keep moving so that peopleââ¬â¢s lives were only temporarily interrupted. à à à à à Strandââ¬â¢s technique of splitting up his sentences helps emphasize certain phrases and ideas. When I read poetry I naturally pause for a brief second at the end of each line to allow the words to sink in, therefore taking an extra moment to realize what the author is saying. With each line in this poem only a few words long, there is a higher pause-to-word ratio, which allows for more thought for each idea the first time you read through it. Strand splits up the sentences in places where he is trying to convey more meaning, with the hope that the reader will pause and contemplate what was just read. His stanzas are concluded when he wants more attention placed on his current idea. à à à à à The narratorââ¬â¢s viewpoint towards life in this poem is quite different from how most people see it. Where he writes, ââ¬Å"In a field / I am the absence / of field.â⬠(ll. 1-3) instead of acknowledging his existence as something, he regards it as a lack of something. This negativity towards himself is what the entire poem is focused on. à à à à à He uses the idea that when his body enters an area the parts of that area are momentarily interrupted and are forced around him, just waiting to return back to normal once he leaves: ââ¬Å"When I walk / I part the air / and always / the air moves in / to fill the spaces / where my bodyââ¬â¢s been.â⬠(ll. 8-13) The ââ¬Å"airâ⬠in that line symbolizes the existence of other people around him, and the narrator sees himself as a nuisance to those people, always being in the way. They canââ¬â¢t wait for the narrator to leave so that they donââ¬â¢t have to put up with him anymore and can therefore return to what they were doing. Family Systems Theory
Family Systems Theory: Family Cohesion When growing up families are and have been considered systems because they are made up of interrelated elements or objectives. Families are examples to show that they have regular behaviors, they have regular interactions, and they are interdependent on one another. It is believed the family can be defined as a set of interacting individuals who are related by blood, marriage, cohabitation, or adoption.Although they are numerous in number some functions of the family include values and practices placed on theories that are used to explain patterns of living among the individuals who make up the family systems. In system theory, behaviors and family members responses influence the regulation of the family pattern and the family life pattern. Meanings and values are vital components of the family system and provide motivation and energy. Every family has a unique culture, value, structure, and history. We can choose our friends and sometimes even the people we choose to work with, but we cannot in any way choose who our family members are.We are stuck with them for better or for worse and we are bound together forever; fortunately or unfortunately. As individuals, we are each are unique in more ways than can we can even begin to list Because of this, family members donââ¬â¢t always get along and disagreements can be expected. Family cohesion is important. Families who have healthy levels of cohesion emotionally interact with one another and find the unspoken balance that supports us when we want our very own individual independence and in the same hand we can continue to maintain our family togetherness.Healthy family cohesion is not only strength, but a resource for families that will assist them in facing the daily challenges of family life. This system helps with assisting in maintaining a healthy marriage, and in providing a nurturing environment for all the children if present within the family. Family members from c ohesive family environments feel included and emotionally connected with the family. Lowà family cohesionà indicates aà weakà emotional bond among family members. It is important to do all things possible to maintain a high family cohesion; this will keep the family system strong.

Much like the Russian Revolution events, Animal Fa Essays
Much like the Russian Revolution events, Animal Fa Essays Much like the Russian Revolution events, Animal Farm tends to follow a similar sequence of events. The overthrow of Nicholas II is much like taking over the Jones' farm. The labor parties overthrew Nicholas c , and the animals rebelled and took over the farm. The Provisional Government set up in Russia involved many different factions and people, yet only a few individuals really possessed any power (3 158-73). Similarity the animals in Animal Farm gather to form a new society that would improve life for all, only to find that the pigs have already planned how the farm would be managed. The increasing frequency of disagreements between Snowball and Napoleon can be compared to the Provisional government's splitting into two main factions, the Bolsheviks and Mensheviks. Napoleon and his dogs attack and expel Snowball, which parallels the expulsion of Leon Trotsky by Lenin's Secret Police. The Battle of the Cowshed could be compared to the various uprisings and confrontations th at took place in Russia in the early days of the Revolution. The Battle of the Windmill can be compared to World War I and the Russians' main enemy, Germany ("Russian Revolution"). The author of Animal Farm bases much of the events on the Russian Revolution. The characters in Animal Farm and the Russian Revolution can also be compared. Mr. Jones is very similar to the Czar Nicholas II in that he is more interested in his own personal comforts than the well being of his animals or his farm. Old Major can be said to represent either Karl Marx or Lenin as a visionary who predicts a grand future. Snowball is similar to Leon Trotsky in that he is a meticulous planner, freely sharing his ideas to make life better for all animals on the farm. Napoleon compares to Stalin in a way that they both set themselves up as dictators with total power over the government and had special organizations to expel or execute anyone whom rebelled against them. Squealer represents the propaganda departments of Stalin's government. He is constantly maint aining the support for Napoleon by threats (you don't want Jones back) or bending the truth to justify Napoleon's actions. (globalserve.net/ glamont /frames.htm) Boxer represents the common people of Russia who constantly follow their leader by working harder despite any doubts they may have in those leaders. Mollie is a character that represents the vain people in Russia at the time. She didn't think much about the farm and only cared for the beauty of herself in which she ends up leaving the farm. The vain people in Russia didn't care about the revolution, only about them, and went to other countries that offered more. Benjamin is much like the skeptical people in Russia. He is old and suspicious of the way things are working out on the farm. He thinks nothing ever changes and his suspicions end up being true. The people in Russia thought the revolution wouldn't change anything and just thought as the rulers as crazy (). As you can see the characters in Animal Farm and the Russian Revolution are much alike. In the book Napoleon began his leadership role quite well, with his ideas being fair and with a positive meaning. As the story continues he becomes more corrupt, and his ideas turn into a dictatorship. "Napoleon lead the animals back to the store-shed and served out a double portion of corn to everyone, with two biscuits for each dog." As time went on his true nature, of a power crazy character begins to surface, he becomes more selfish and the principle idea of equality no longer exists. The farm is run on terror, and no animal dare speak out against him, for fear of death . "The news leaked out that every pig was receiving a ration of a pint of bear daily, with half a gallon for Napoleon." Just as during the revolution, when at first Stalin was fair and just but as he was given power he turns into a corrupt man with dictatorship qualities. He became more selfish and sinister. When securing his power base he engineered the permanent exile of Trotsky. This compa res to the book, when Napoleon

Essay on The relationship between prints and painting on copper
Essay on The relationship between prints and painting on copper Essay on The relationship between prints and painting on copper Essay on The relationship between prints and painting on copperThe emergence of oil copper painting and copper printing contributed to consistent changes in the visual art. At the same time, copper painting and copper printing emerged as two different branches in the development of the visual art, although they had similar roots and used copper as the core of the technique used in painting and printing on copper. Therefore, the introduction of copper in the visual art contributed to the emergence of oil copper painting first and then stimulated the development of copper prints.à à à à à à à à à à à The introduction of copper in the visual art was an innovation that had had a considerable impact on the further development of the visual art. Artists had started to use copper in their paintings to make them more durable since existing materials used in paintings did not provide the long lasting effects. The traditional canvas used in painting soon resulted in the loss of color and irrevocable changes that led to the fast destruction of canvases and loss of paintings. In this regard, the use of copper contributed to consistent changes in the durability of paintings with the use of copper.à Moreover, they brought considerable changes in the brightness and shine of colors. As a result, paintings with the use of copper became more attractive for artists because they could make colors brighter and they were more shining, whereas paintings became more durable compared to conventional canvases.à à à à à à à à à à à At the same time, the successful use of copper in painting contributed to further experiments in the use of copper in prints. In fact, the use of copper in prints was the natural consequence of using copper in painting because prints were even more suitable for using copper than painting. To put it more precisely, prints allowed wider production of art works based on the use of copper. They became more realistic , shining and attractive for consumers. As a result, artists used copper prints to make their works of art more attractive and realistic. In addition, copper prints became quite popular because they were easy to create and opened the way for the mass production. In such a way, the development of copper printing stimulated the further progress of printing and experiments involving copper and other materials.à à à à à à à à à à à However, it is also worth mentioning the fact that the emergence of both copper painting and printing became possible due to the progress of copper production technology and adaptation of copper to use inà painting. For example, the use of copper in painting required the production of the copper powder. In addition, the copper plates used for copper prints required the high quality of copper production to minimize defects of copper that deteriorated the overall quality of copper prints making them impossible to use for the creation o f art works. In such a way, the development and improvement of the copper production technology and the evolution of painting opened the way for the emergence of copper painting.à à à à à à à à à à à Thus, experiments of artists in the field of visual art contributed to the appearance of new techniques of painting. In this regard, copper painting became one of the most important steps toward the further development of visual arts and appearance of durable painting, which used new shining and bright colors, while the appearance of copper painting stimulated the appearance of copper printing.

Patient satisfaction from physicians' communication Essay
Patient satisfaction from physicians' communication - Essay Example To this end they emphasis on the patient care model which places great emphasis on open enquiry, reflective listening and empathy as one of the most effective and important ways of responding to the diverse patient needs. In the HCPC Standards of Proficiencyà (2013 p.8) Standard 8, ââ¬ËBe able to communicate effectivelyââ¬â¢, 8.3 states that aà physiotherapist must:à ââ¬Å"Understand how communication skills affect assessment and engagement of service users and how the means of communicationà should be modified to address and take account of factors such as age,à capacity, learning ability and physical ability.â⬠As a result, this paper attempts to establish why effective communication between the patient and doctor is crucial by examining different case scenarios and evaluating the role communication plays, not only just in the physiotherapist context, but also in the healthcare system in general. Verbal communication between doctors and their clients is r ecognized as a core part of care and in conventional scenarios it is easy to decode and analyses, and this is because it is discrete in nature and has clear endpoints. However, for doctors to be effective at it, they must have good interpersonal skills such that they can make the patient feel at ease and encourage them to open up with alarming them, sounding rude or stereotypical.à à In their discourse, they should ensure they show empathy and attention to the patientââ¬â¢s situation and be capable of managing the patientââ¬â¢s expectations without discouraging them (Larsen and Smith 1981).

Professional Nursing Risk Reductin Stategies to Prevent Medical Errors Research Paper
Professional Nursing Risk Reductin Stategies to Prevent Medical Errors - Research Paper Example However, the two goals are faced by several challenges which inhibit validity of the goals. Home care is one of the major goals of NSGP and is very vital in reducing medical errors. First, home care help improve the accuracy in identifying patients. During identification process, one has to accomplish some actions that will reduce errors in administering medication. For instance, one has to use not less than two patient identifiers during the specimen collection process and should label containers with the specimen in the presence of the patient. When one ensures that these actions are accomplished, home care can easily be realized. Thereby, the initial visit recommends that the caregiver or the patient state the correct date of birth and name of the patient. This will help in getting the correct address and one can give an alternative address. In case the patient is well known to the clinician, confirmed address and facial recognition are the acceptable identifiers (Coburn et al, 20 04). In practice setting, medical errors are common in different stages of treatment and diagnosis. Furthermore, home care goal is essential as it maintains and communicates accurate patient medication details. The goal has been lagging behind in our daily setting as one has to update or obtain medication information, define the various types of medication details which are to be collected and compare and contrast medication which has been taken with order to resolve discrepancies. The goal also features the provision of written medication details when the patient decides to leave the organizationââ¬â¢s care. It also explains the significance of managing the medication details to the intended patient. Home care as NSGP goal is fostered in its implementation through several actions in reducing medical errors. First, the goal compares the ordered with the current medication and later clarifies discrepancies that may arise with the relevant physician. The goal also focuses on the re ference policies in its operation. Furthermore, all the medication details are recorded in the medical record. For instance, when a patient is discharged, a current list of medication details is printed from the PSL and handed over to the patient (Belllows et al, 2005). In addition, a letter is attached which explains the importance of updating the list and availing it to the health care providers. Later, a copy of the current medical report is left in the home with instructions about the importance of updating the list. More so, home care goal is concerned with reducing the risk of administering health care and other infections. The care is mandated with setting goals on how to improve compliance, improve compliance that is based on the established goals and comply with the hand hygiene guidelines. The goal is considered realistic as it is implemented through the UMHHC policy that was set in 2003 on hand hygiene. It also provides paper towels and waterless soaps in the various fiel ds and controls its organization. Finally, it conducts the hand washing observation which is a compliance goal that is greater than 90 %. It also educates the staff members and presents data to UMHHC infection control services (Mann & Marcus, 2006). Home care aims at controlling the risk at which patients fall. It also assesses the risk that is incurred when patients fall. The goal implements the interventions based

MLT1 Task 5 - Essay Example Streptococci lacti) and Lactobacilli (e.g. Lactobacillus casei, L. pentosus), which produce lactic acid as the end product of fermentation (Buchanan & Cibbons, 1974). Other glucose fermenting bacteria that produce these acids are Proteus, Shigella, Salmonella, Escherichia coli, Microbacterium and Leuconostoc (Buchanan & Cibbons, 1974). When using phenol red indicator in the broth media, two bacterias that ferment glucose were the E. coli and Shigella sonnei, they produced measurable acid by-product because the broth media changed from red to yellow. Therefore, organisms like Escherichia coli, ferments glucose through fermentation thereby liberating large amount of three types of acids like succinic, lactic, and acetic, which changes the media from yellow to red (McDevitt, 2009). The Voges ââ¬â Proskauer test is appropriate because of the detection capability of acetoin, which is produced by the bacteria that use it as metabolic intermediate by following the butane diol pathway (Buchanan & Cibbons, 1974). This test is used when differentiating Escherichia coli from other Enterobacterà species like Enterobacterà aerogenes because E. coli is positive in Methyl red yet negative Voges-Proskauer whiles the Enterobacterà aerogenes is negative in Methyl red test and positive in Voges-Proskauer (McDevitt, 2009). Availability of main source of food determines the enzymes and the pathway of glucose metabolism because different nutrients require specific enzymes hence determining the pathway (Dannessa, 2014). However, alternative pathways are used when organism require a specific amount of ATP, since different pathway produce a certain amount of ATP after oxidation of glucose (Dannessa,

Family theory use for the dementia Disease Essay
Family theory use for the dementia Disease - Essay Example ortant that nurses continue to improve their care services beyond that of re-establishment of family balance to encompass that of family health support and health protection through extensive awareness. The capability of families to reveal self-care skills is crucial to advance mental and physical health within the family and curb the mortality and morbidity that persists to transpire as an outcome of chronic health problems (Doane, 2004). Being a service-oriented profession, nurses working with families in illness and health have an obligation to enhance individual health but the health of the entire family. The objective of this paper is to explore some of the features of the family system theory. Primarily, the repercussions of an organismic family systems model to dementia will be taken into account. Then, consistent with the principles of a competence theory, there will be an exploration of the features of the family systems theory. And lastly, based on research on family systems, several dimensions of family systems will be discussed with regard to their relevance to nursing practice with vulnerable families of dementia patients. The family systems theory was conceptualised by Murray Bowen which maintains that understanding of an individual is impossible in separation from one another, but instead understanding of an individual as a member of their family. The family, as espoused by the theory, is an emotional entity. In the family systems approach, the family is viewed as a system of interrelated and mutually dependent individuals. Moreover, the theory stipulates that families are systems in which all of its members had tasks to fulfil and rules to obey. System members are anticipated to respond to each other in a definite manner in accordance to their responsibility, which is established by relationship agreements (Titelman, 2003). Within the system boundaries, trends emerge as behaviour of a particular member of the family is attributable to and sources
Why executive compensation is out of control Essay
Why executive compensation is out of control - Essay Example Many investors in the stock market all over the world believe that executive pay is running out of control. There is worrying trend especially in the United States where the annual salary of an average worker is the amount of money an executive receives in a day. Critics believe that executive bosses are not worth the amount of compensation they receive. Despite falling stock shares in the market, executives still receive large amounts of compensation. Stock market investors believe this should not be happening since their performance does not correspond to earnings. At a moment where recession and unemployment is high in many countries, it does not make economic sense to have executive bosses receive such a large amount of compensation. The excess pay awarded to them should instead be invested in the public sector and this consequently shows how executive bosses have little concern about their countries and the citizens. Economists believe that in order to clear the economic instability being experienced in the world currently, it is important that the pay of executives be tied to performance (Bebchuck, 2010). Most executive bosses control their board of directors hence they still manage to earn exaggerated compensation. The board of directors should however be able to control the compensation got by this executives and their compensation should be tied to performance instead of the power an executive has in the board. This shows how corporate governance is continuously being under rated with a show of little economic sense when just a few people are left to joke around with investorââ¬â¢s interests. The fact that executive compensation is determined by market demand, most executives are continuously receiving an exaggerated compensation in comparison to an average worker. Critics believe that the market forces such as demand and supply should not entirely determine their compensation and it should however

Human Resource Management Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 4750 words
Human Resource Management - Essay Example The legislation states that redundancy can happen on the part of the employer when he or she ceases to run a business which tends to employ a large number of people. Again the employer may happen to change the place of business activity for which employees residing in one area may turn redundant to the corporation. The employer may also feel that there is less requirement of employees pertaining to a certain segment and thus tends to reduce the number of people in such segments. Finally the employer may also decide to cease the business segment in operation where the employees redundant were previously employed. However the above cases reflect situations which cannot be taken as legitimate from the legal standpoint and hence requires some procedural followings. (Taylor, 2005, p.360-361; Gernard and Judge, 2005, p.329). Process Firstly the employer is asked to consider the different feasible alternatives like conducting layoffs or putting employees in short term contracts rather than making them fully redundant. However if it is felt that redundancy is the only option then the employer is required to act on such in an unbiased manner whether conducted on a group or in regards to some specific individuals. The employer is required to render some salient points or objectives for which redundancy is best chosen. Secondly in regards to making specific employees redundant the employer is required to render a written declaration to them stating the rationale for which the company desires to cease their employment. Such employees are also required to be invited for gaining their views on such. However in cases where in 20 or more employees are made redundant then adequate rationale is required to be put to the body called Department of Business as well... According to the essay findings these happenings of redundancy are often related to the degradation of the productivity factor of the employees. Further the Employment Rights Act of 1996 in practice in United Kingdom states hints many factors which are related to the cause of redundancy. The legislation states that redundancy can happen on the part of the employer when he or she ceases to run a business which tends to employ a large number of people. Again the employer may happen to change the place of business activity for which employees residing in one area may turn redundant to the corporation. The employer may also feel that there is less requirement of employees pertaining to a certain segment and thus tends to reduce the number of people in such segments. As the research declares the best employment practices based on the Civil Rights Law of the European region pertain to abolishment of discriminatory practices in regards to different races, gender differences and also differences based on employment of people pertaining to different religions. Thus the employers of United Kingdom focus on strictly abiding by such legislations to help sustain a clean and productive atmosphere in the work zones. Discrimination based on gender and race differentiations are strictly avoided and also protection is rendered to help minorities work in a productive manner along with other employees.
President Barrack Obama Essay Example for Free
President Barrack Obama Essay Every politician makes promises of what he or she will do when elected president and many of them do not see their promises through. President Barrack Obama is no exception and he made more than 500 promises to the people of United States of America if elected president. People should not except that promises politicians make to be a 100% fulfilled. However, president Barrack Obama has fulfilled a number of the promises he made to the people while others are to be fulfilled. The paper focuses on some of the promises the president promised during his campaigns for presidency and their state in the present day, a discussion if Obama would invade Iran and the new Arizona Immigrant Bill and whether he should get involved. How well does President Barrack Obama live to the expectations of the people? President Barrack Obama Barrack Obama is the 44th president of America and won the elections on 4th November, 2008 by a landslide win of 52. 9% against his opponent from the Republican Party, John McCain who acquired 45. 7% popular vote. During his campaign, president Barrack Obama made more than 500 promises to the people which were to be fulfilled after he was elected president. It has been one year and seven months since his inauguration on January 20, 2009. Albeit speculations about his promises as campaign tools for presidency, president Barrack Obama has undergone both positive and negative criticisms based on the same promises that defined him during his campaign and has managed to fulfill some of the promises he made to the people of the United States of America, while others stand to be fulfilled (Janny, 2008). I would say that the Obama reign and governance still has time to fulfill the promises it made to the people of the United States of America. Either way, critics would still be made about him either carrying out Bush practices to his administration and of being a president who used vague promises to the people of the United States in order to be elected president. Some believe that president Obama is the most widely criticized president of the United States of America for all times. All in all, the president deserves a pat on the back for the promises he has managed to fulfill, the promises he is still fulfilling and the promises he is to fulfill. Time would tell if his promises were merely campaign tools by the end of his era, which till then, president Obama has a lot to live to the expectations of the people of the United States of America, the people who elected him believing that he was the new dawn for America, an era of the youths to rule (Janny, 2008). Some may argue that president Obama has continued to carry on the practices in the retired president bush regime while others believe that Obama has carried out recommendable efforts to change the country. President Obama made promises to the people of the United States, but the people should not expect the promises to be fulfilled overnight. Some of the things he promised are becoming harder and harder to fulfill for instance the promise of the united states government being transparent, accountable and allowing the press to have access to government records. He promised to end the blanket of secrecy the Bush regime operated under by making the government act responsibly and become more accountable to the people it is serving and thereby making him the most liberal president of the U. S. (Janny, 2008). The promise of openness was signed during his first day in office and to present day still remains making it easier for the Americans to scrutinize the government for there is no secrecy that has been typical of past American governments. However, this promise has been challenged after the high court ruled out publication of torture article for the Guantanamo Bay detainees. The position for not publishing is because the information, if it were to be published would make United Kingdom questions the intelligence of sharing information with the U. S. This has added to the doubts as to whether presidentââ¬â¢s Obama promises were merely campaign tools (Stolberg, 2010). In the article ââ¬Å"Barrack Obama on the issues: what would be your top three priorities if elected? â⬠(2008), during his campaigns, he made one of his major promises to withdraw the United States troops from Iraq and end the Iraq war. Many citizens embraced the idea with open arms for they believed that the U. S. interference with Iraq was costing the country a lot of money which could be used to salvage other countriesââ¬â¢ priorities. He promised the people that he was going to make sure that United States troopââ¬â¢s combats were going to be out of Iraq within six months since his election as president. The promise to remove troops from Iraq came to pass during his first days as president of the United States of America when he ordered that United States military to start preparing to leave Iraq. Today, the presidentââ¬â¢s promise is getting closer to be fulfilled for he has already set the deadline for withdrawal of the troops as 31st August, 2010 for the promise to be executed on schedule. Alongside with the directives he issued in his first days as president, for the U. S. military to withdraw from Iraq, he believe that by withdrawing the United States military troops, the U. S. would be giving Iraq government autonomy and independence over the future of its people and country. Iraq government will have to deal with terrorist threats themselves and form their own government. This he said because he believed in the diplomatic way of solving conflicts and the U. S. as a mediator between the countries bordering Iraq for peace to be attained in the region. In the article ââ¬Å"Barrack Obama on the issues: what would be your top three priorities if elected? â⬠(2008), President Obama intended to close down the Guantanamo detention camp immediately he took over as president but this was hindered by a number of factors. The camp was to be closed within one year and terrorist suspects were no longer to be interrogated using torture methods. In addition, it was made illegal for the U. S. to have secret detention camps in other countries or for such camps to be built in the future. This involved the closure of CIA secret detention centers, further closure of the Afghanistan and Iraq detention facilities in the future. President barrack Obama, said that by closing the detention camp, it would allow the detainees who have been help up in the camps without fair trial the opportunity of fair trial or release. This was to ensure that the United States of America government practiced more ethical values of dealing with violence and terrorism other that the inhuman methods employed by the Bush administration. The promise still remains to be fulfilled as many countries have shown reluctance to receiving terrorists in their countries. Issues are still arising as to whether the terrorist after being delivered to other countries will be tortured. Arguably, some people believe that the terrorists are too dangerous to be released and therefore the promise stands to be fulfilled within the time that president Obama is in power. President Obama also promised that there would be no tax hikes for those people with an annual income of less than $250,000 which comprises of a large number of people because most of them barely make $100,000 along side his health care reform promise to include more people being insured. In the article ââ¬Å"Barrack Obama on the issues: what would be your top three priorities if elected? â⬠(2008), however, when tax on cigarette was increased, it made the promise during the campaign unrealistic because majority of those who use cigarettes barely make more than $250,000. Many people interpreted his promises differently for it is very unrealistic not to tax anything that the poor man uses. In addition, increase in tax on cigarettes leads to a decline on those people who use them especially the under aged since they cannot afford it. For a non dictator president like Barrack Obama not to dogmatically impose his ideas on the people, I tend to think that people are being unfair to him and are judging him too harshly. He has done a lot in light of the promises; he is being pushed from all sides by people who are wishing that he fails in his reign as president and also compressed to meet both the republicans and democrats demands of the government. When pushed too much, both internationally and domestically, Obama has ended up not doing anything and this has contributed to the down fall of the United States economy but there is time for him to correct his mistakes and carry on with the promises. What the United States of America people and politicians should be doing is to lend him a hand and not expect him to put the country on track single handedly. President Barrack Obama is also working with people who did not promise anything to the people of the United States of America and therefore they do not feel compelled to help him attain his goals (Janny, 2008). Speculations arise as to whether president Obama could invade Iran after it announced that it has started converting uranium into gas. It is believed that Iran is a step away from making nuclear bomb even after the suspension of such activities in Iran by the International Atomic Energy Agency. President Obama has considered asking other countries to request Iran into giving up through international community and solidarity into pressuring Iran give up its nuclear interests. When diplomatic efforts fails to make Iran cease its nuclear efforts, I think president Obama will result into invading the country through the military striking the productions sites of nuclear in Iran. Invading Iran will no doubt create bad relations of the U. S. with the Arab Emirates but president Obama considers it better than having a liberal Muslim state possess nuclear weapons. In addition to his countryââ¬â¢s troops been in Iraq, Obama is left with no choice than to invade Iran if international sanction do not compel the country to stop its quest for nuclear weapons (Janny, 2008). The new Arizona Immigrant Bill is believed to be one of the toughest bills on immigrants. Upon the enactment of the bill, immigrants will be identified, prosecuted and deported back to their home country if suspected to be in Arizona illegally. Immigrants in Arizona are to carry immigration documents which make it an offense not to have the immigration documents in the country. The police will have the power to arrest and detain those people who are in the country illegally. Many people are opposed to it feeling that it opens up the right to harassment of foreigners and any person suspected of being a foreigner thereby undermining the rights of people. Others are for the bill to be enacted and strict penalties be imposed on employers who hire illegal immigrants imposed. This is in line with the belief that most immigrants are taking up the rights of Americans in the workplace while Native Americans continue to suffer for they lack job opportunities which have been grabbed by the illegal immigrants. The bill is also anticipated to build a lot of racism and ethnic outline. Furthermore immigrants will fear reporting anything to the authority for fear of being deported to their country, which is not in line with combating crime in Arizona. Various organizations are opposed to the immigration bill and calls for its revoking for fear that it may spread from Arizona to other states and therefore jeopardizing public safety. President barrack Obama is opposed to the immigration bill in Arizona terming it as misguided and poorly conceived. I think the president should get involved in coming up with immigration reforms but only when he conjures up the democrats together with the republicans into putting in place immigration laws that are not unethical (Janny, 2008). President Obama health care plan was among the promises he delivered during his campaign. He sought to end the way insurance companies abuse the rights of the citizens of America. In the bill, the president aimed at creating and enacting rules that saw everybody being treated fairly when it came to health care and creating health care insurances for the people which are affordable. It was a concern for the president that many Americans could not afford health care insurance and thereby incorporated a promise on health care to broaden the number of people under insurance in the country especially those who are poor. One of the ways that affordable insurance is being maintained is through the tax increase on cigarettes. A large percentage of the money is being channeled to poor families specifically those families that have been victims of tobacco and could not afford health care insurance (Stolberg, 2010). I strongly agree with president Obamaââ¬â¢s health care plan. Through his plan more and more people are assured of obtaining medical cover. The move to provide the middle class with tax cuts ensures that those people who were never covered will be covered and afford health care in the united states of America. In as much as critics are arising as to whether universal health care is possible, what Obama is doing to provide affordable medical services affordable is commendable. Insurance companies will also be more accountable for they will have rules that are governing them not to deny health coverage to the people of America. The era where poor American could not afford the similar choices of medical insurance with prominent members of parliament are long gone through the Obama health care plan. The plan aims at providing leverage in terms of insurance with competitive prices of health care insurance and no longer will Americans be discriminated in light of provision of health care. With such propositions, it would be very unwise not to fully agree with what president Barrack Obama is doing for his country (Stolberg, 2010). ââ¬Å"Yes We Canâ⬠was the slogan during the campaigns for presidency which saw Obama defeat McCain and become the 44th president of America. Being a young presidential candidate, many youths believed in him and they voted him to bring about reforms in America. Obama widely campaigned and made more than 500 promises to the people of America. Some of the promises have been attained; others are in progress while others may seem to have been forgotten. It is however myopic to discredit what the president has done for his country and what he is trying to do. President Obama has many promises to fulfill and this is worsened by the way he is being judged on a daily basis. It is as if he is walking through the hawk eyes of a people that is relaxing and watching what one man alone can do for his country. By the mere fact that he promised to bring about reforms in the government and move away from practices that were during the Bush era, it does not mean that he will do it alone. The slogan ââ¬Å"Yes We Canâ⬠I tend to believe incorporated every individual who is an American citizen to work together to bring about changes in the country. In addition, his time as the president of America is not yet over and the president will do the best he can to fulfill his promises to the nation for the promises are geared towards the development of America and its citizens (Janny, 2008). An Applied Management Project Reflection report
An Applied Management Project Reflection report This reflection report is all about our experiences Applied Management project (AMP) and learning from the experience of the project. Reflection report helps us to improve ourselves. We also can learn from our mistakes which is also an important goal of the report. We work individually and in a group for our Applied Management project (AMP). We go through within good and bad experience when doing the report. We also learn some new things individually and in a group. The main target is to learn from experience throughout the project. Aims and Objective Aim of the report is to judge our work ourselves and improve our lacking. Through this report we can also have an idea about our own skills and abilities. The main objective of this report is to find out the errors that I made to do the Applied Management Project (AMP) and take lesson from the mistakes. What is Reflective Report? Reflection report is analysis of our work done before. In a reflection report a person or a student mention the experience of his or her work to prepare a project or report. In a reflection report one can include the process of using the skills and abilities he or she has. Greenwood (1993) said about reflection To think about what one is doing whilst one is doing it; it is typically stimulated by surprise, by something which puzzled the practitioner concerned. Kolb (1984) also said reflection is central to the process of turning experience into learning. So the way of learning through experience is reflection. Edgar Schon (1983) describe two way of reflection. One is reflection in action and another is reflection on action. Reflection in action is about looking during the event and reflection on action is looking back after the event. We are doing reflection on action because we are writing this reflection report after we finish our Applied Management Project (AMP). According to Boyd Fales (1983) reflection on action is The process of creating and clarifying the meanings of experiences in terms of self in relation to both self and world. The outcome of this process is changed conceptual perspectives. So from the reflection process we not only can learn but also can improve the lacking. Recollection of experiences We have to do the reflection report after we finish the Applied Management Project (AMP). The main aim to write the reflection report is to learn from our experiences. We got 11 weeks to write this Applied Management Project (AMP). Within these time period we had some good and bad experiences. Sometimes we got some times we got experience which is new to us. After completed the second semester we had a week of learning how to write the Applied Management Project (AMP) and the reflection report. First two days we have given the idea about the process of Applied Management Project (AMP). We got some information about the report writing, plagiarism, Harvard referencing and how to use the resources of the university. The first day we had three classes. The first class was for introduction of the Applied Management Project (AMP) a, the second one was all about report writing and the third one was for information sources and referencing. The second day was also a busy day for us. Three cla sses also held at that day. We had given information about plagiarism in our first class of day two. Then the next class is all about the reflection report and the relevance to write the report. At last we had given our topic in the last class of second they. We are divided into several groups and the group members had to do the report which is given for their group. We have made a group of nine people. We were excited about our topic. We were very happy when we were given the topic. Our topic was Market segmentation and effect of new technology on market segmentation. The reason we were happy because this topic was very important in marketing and also easy from other topics. The class was finished and we had to attend in the tutor support session which started the next day. In this session we had to sit in a group. As our group was made earlier we sat with our group members. At the first day of tutor support session we had given idea about how to use the online resources from the u niversity site. We could collect information from the open sources but all the open sources are not reliable sources. Thats why we are taught how to us the educational journals, magazines, e-books, articles etc. We had also give idea about how we can get useful information about our topic. Then tutors gave us their opinion about the topic. Tutor also told us that as a tutor what they are expecting in the Applied Management Project (AMP). There are five or six tutors who gave their opinion about the topic. We also got time to discuss the topic with our group members. In the session we prepared a format of the report. One of the tutors asked us to collect one article about our topic and bring the article at the next day. We got three days of tutor support session and after that session we could not get the support from the tutors so that three days was very important for us to prepare the report. After that session we set a meeting with our group members to get started the report. We meet three times and discuss about our topic and gave our opinion about the topic. Then we started to work individually. I start to collect data about my topic using university resources. At first I find books about segmentation. I found some books which is very helpful for my Applied Management Project (AMP). My plan was to collect the data about my topic and then start reading. First few days I use to find information about my topic. I search for article, journal, magazines which is related with my topic. I used university library and digital library to find the information. When I feel that the information is enough for my topic I started reading. Then I started to write the Applied Management Project (AMP). This is the first time I was writing a project and long report of 12000 words. Sometimes I get stuck about different topic. Then i take help of my friend and discuss with them about the problem. Personal feeling and learning from the experience The Applied Management Project (AMP) is developed to show our skills and ability learned from the Msc Marketing and Business management. To write the report I learn some new things and I use my skills and knowledge. Throughout the report writing process I also did some mistakes. According to Gibbs model of reflection (1998), we must go through a cycle to complete the report. Description The first one is description. In this part what is happened throughout the report writing must be described. This is my first time to write a project. So I was a little bit nervous. But when I started writing the report I get confidence to write the project. And I also learn process to write a project. The project is all about secondary research. We does not require the primary research process. Feeling In my mind there are some questions about the Applied Management project (AMP). Can I do the project? Can I complete the project in time? How will be the project? Will I get a good grade in the project? When I start writing the report I realized that the time is enough for the project because we do not need to do primary survey. Applied Management Project (AMP) was a huge report with 12000 words. I was confused about the timing of the project. When I completed the project my feeling also changed. I also get the answer of my questions time to time. Evaluation I started to write the report 20 days before. Sometimes I want to work in the university library for long time but the university made a short timetable for the summer time. But when I search information I get more knowledge about the searching of information and time management. I also developed my writing skills. I spent lots of time to searching and writing the report. But I did not spent enough time to read the books, articles, journals and magazines. So If I do any project or report in future I will use the proper use of time to search information, read them and writing. I also use references in the project which I think not enough for the research. I can include more references for my project which can make the project more effective. So I learn several things. Some are good, some are bad. I must improve my skills and take lesson from my mistakes. Analysis To write the Applied Management Project (AMP) I made a plan and work according to my plan. I set a time to study which is one of the important part of my plan. I also give myself some rest because if I work restless my work may be not as good as I want. I made a schedule for my project. I divided the topic into several parts. As example Segmentation methods, different types of segmentation, effect of new technology on market segmentation etc. I start to work part by part. At a time I concentrate only one part of the project which helps me to get read of workloads. So I can finish my project timely because of the planning. Conclusion During the project writing I developed my skills. I was slow in typing but because of the Applied Management Project (AMP) my typing speed increase. My writing quality also developed during this time. But I must improve my information search activities because sometimes I get confused about the information which is important for my project. I also use my time properly. But if I can spend more time in university library then my report might be better. Action Plan For next time I will complete my project before 15 days. Because if I can get time to revise the project then I believe the report will be more improved. But this time I get only one day to revise the report. When I revise the report some points which I can write more but because of the time I could not do this. Gibbs model of reflection (1988) So from the above discussion I can say that I improve some skills during the project writing. But I also have some lacking as well. If I get any opportunity in the future I will try to avoid the mistakes and make my plan properly for the report. Group dynamics and learning from the experience Working in a group or team is more effective than working alone. People usually can perform better when he or she work with a group or team. People who work in a group or team can share their feelings and experience about their work. Sometimes people learn and improve themselves from the advice of other people. We also get the opportunity to work in a team. For our Applied Management Project (AMP) we have to make a group. We made a group of nine people and start work in a group. Working in a group or team is a learning experience to me. According to Guirdham (2002) people within the group must have some characteristics. People must have good behaviour, norms and co-operation. Without co-operation a group could not become successful. There is a chance to conflict within the group. But people of group must have problem solving attitude. Crainer (1998) said that in a group different people perform different their skills and abilities. We are also working as a team when we have given the topic of Applied Management Project (AMP). Working in a group is effective for us. Within a group all group members must listen to each other. Without this listening behaviour one can not perform well in the group. In a group every one must give importance to each other. If someone neglect or underestimate anyone it may harm himself. Every one has different thoughts and different understanding. So within the group we start to listen each other. Everyone told to discuss their own view about the topic. We get some new and interesting idea about our topic after the discussion session. This discussion session take long time but it was really effective for everyone. Belbin (1993) introduced most effective analysis about individual role within a group or a team. According to Belbin (1993) a successful group must have different range of roles which is undertaking by different members of group. Mullins (2005, p.557) Belbin said for successful group or team member must have nine team roles. Which are- Plant Resource investigator Co-ordinator Shaper Monitor evaluator Team worker Implementer Completer Specialist So people within the team must have these nine characteristics team roles. In our team different members has different attitude. We have a team leader who actually co-ordinate the works between the team members. At the first meeting we are told to collect some articles and journals about our topic. One person of our team was given the responsibility to manage the meeting among us. In our second meeting all of us collect some articles and journals about our topic. Then we all asked to share own opinion about market segmentation. We all try to share what we know about the segmentation. We take note from the discussion. Some of them are really helpful for our project. We try to divide the work equally within the group members. Working in a group was very good experience for me. I dont know everything. Different people have different way of thinking. We share our opinion and learn from other people of group. Although the group work is time consuming, we can learn lots of new things from the group. Working in a group gives me more confident. But sometimes group work can frustrate us. In our group meeting two members always came late. We cant start our work in time for them. This thing makes a bad impact within the group members. Some group members want to start work without them. But one day when we start our work and they came, we have to discuss the matter again to them. So it kills our time and some members become angry. Our group was formed on the basic of friendship. Thats why we cant say anything to the members who come late. If our group was formed according to work, the group was more effective than this group. I also learn a lit about my individual performance and personality. Within a group I judge myself with the other group members who help me to know my ability and performance. I also learn one thin about the group work and that is people act differently when they work alone or in a group. Because when I use to talk to one person of my group I act diffe rent way and my talk within the group is also different. This is an interesting characteristic of human nature. So as a member of a team I learn so many things which will help me in my future when I work in a team or group. Belbins nine team role (Belbin, 1993) Lesson for future project We learn many things during the Applied Management project (AMP). I point out some important things which will help me in my future to do a project- Time management: Use my time properly to prepare the report. Do not delay: Sometimes when we get long time we slow down our work which really harms our work. So I will not delay my work in future. Revise my work: In future if I get an opportunity to do a project I will finish the project before 3 to 5 days of deadline. So that I can revise my work. Evaluate: If possible I will show my work to any tutor or senior who have the knowledge about project which will make my report more effective. Conclusion From above discussion it may be conclude that during the process of Applied Management project (AMP) I learn so many things. I also improve my writing skills and ability. I evaluate myself through the reflective report which will help me to do better and take lesson from my mistakes. Reflective report gives me an opportunity to know about my learning and experiences during the 11 week of my work.

Teachers as Mentors in Critical Pedagogy :: Teaching Learning Essays
Teachers as Mentors in Critical Pedagogy The young world history teacher stood stern and erect before her students. Around the side of her arm she wore a black cloth. "My name is Ms. Aping. When you are responding to me, you will direct me standing up as Ms. Aping, maââ¬â¢am. You are not to speak unless I request for you to do so. I will teach you what you need to know, and I expect you to learn it wellâ⬠¦questions are quite unnecessary. If you fail to abide by my rules you will spend a great deal of your lunchtime with me. Understand?"â⬠¦ An awkward silence followed, then voices raised, "Yes, Ms. Aping, maââ¬â¢am." My voice was among the reluctant echoes in response to this teacher who was clearly exerting the same right and power of a dictator. I later discovered that my teacher was only executing a realistic performance. The scenario, however, proved quite disturbing as well as revealing. Why was it that not a single student stood up to disagree with the teacher? I doubt any of them felt that her extreme an d absurd regulations were right or even permitted, but not one person had the courage to go up and question her style of teaching and authority. Our educational system, while wanting to educate and strengthen its youthsââ¬â¢ minds, has horribly done the opposite through an almost misguided perception of how teachers are supposed to teach. For the majority of our academic learning careers, we have been exposed, to some extent, to the "banking" concept of education described by Paolo Freire. At the youngest age, when we were perhaps considered the most unknowledgeable, we were fed a vast amount of information by our teachers, and were expected to receive and memorize this knowledge and accept it as true. As young elementary school kids, we were taught that Christopher Columbus was the first human being to discover America, only to find out later, that information was not true. These half-true facts, taught to children, are quite acceptable though. It is simple for a child to learn and memorize that Columbus first sailed the ocean blue and founded America for the rest of the world. On the other hand, much energy is needed and confusion may arise for them to acquire and comprehend the immigration of Native American Indians into America, much before the arrival of Columbus, and the possible voyage of early Vikings from northern Europe to the southern coast of present day Canada.

An Argument for the Smoking Ban Essay -- argumentative, persuasive, ar
Have you ever been in a restaurant eating your favorite food, then just when you are about to take a bite, you inhale a cloud of smoke coming from the nearby smoking section? This has been a complaint from many non-smoking restaurant goers. While it is true that smoking cigarettes and breathing them in causes many health problems, is it fair to of take the freedom those Americans who want to smoke and enjoy their meal? This topic is very debatable and in many cases has reached compromises, but I would stand by the argument that smoking should be banned from all public areas because the unfiltered smoke is getting into the lungs of bystanders who do not smoke, and causing some major health problems, and in many cases death. Smoking is a simple process of inhaling and exhaling the smoke of tobacco, but it has deadly consequences. According to the American Cancer Society, smoking, damages nearly every organ in the body and is linked to 15 different types of cancer. Second hand smoking is another story. While the person is not directly inhaling the deadly toxins, they are involuntary inhaling the unfiltered part of the cigarette. There are two forms of smoke that second hand smoke puts off. These are side stream smoke and mainstream smoke. Side stream smoke is the smoke that comes off the end of a lighted cigarette, pipe, or cigar. Mainstream smoke is smoke that is exhaled by the smoker. Second hand smoke is a ââ¬Å"known human carcinogenâ⬠, or a cancer causing agent. It has been linked to cancers of all kinds, ear infections, asthma, heart disease, lung infections, and death (American Cancer Society). So if we know that all of these terrible things come from inhaling other peopleââ¬â¢s cigarette s what are we doing to control it? ... ...se everyone who is surrounding the smoker is affected. Smoking should be done at oneââ¬â¢s house or not at all. Smokers may not realize what they are doing when they smoke around other non- smokers, but they are hurting them. Those who oppose this ban, may believe that they hold strong arguments, but no argument can really beat out they argument between saving peopleââ¬â¢s lives and killing them slowly. This smoking ban will be for the good of the city of Fort Wayne, and for its entire population. Sources Cited "Secondhand Smoke" American Cancer Society, 2014. Understanding Relationship
The need for relationships is fundamental in our life because humans are social beings. Humans like to socialize because we seek for attention. Furthermore, approval is a psychological need, and by socializing we fulfill that need. Relational needs help us to interpret and understand what people really want to get out of relating to each other. It is just like when the least expected person comes by and sit down to lend us his/her ear, we would feel loved. Although relational needs are not the basic needs for survival ââ¬â like food, air or shelter, they are the key essential elements of our human relationships which make life worth living. It is shown that it can contribute widely to a good quality of life. Many a times, our happiness or despair is affected by the quality of our relationships. The best satisfaction in life comes from good relationships with people whom we love. Not only do we become more confident and relaxed, to love and be loved is the greatest feeling the world. And Iââ¬â¢ve learnt that why love is so great? Firstly, love provides warmth to anyone who feels lonely. Secondly, love soothes an anxious and angry heart. Thirdly, love pulls us back from those stressful struggles. Lastly, love can be a huge motivation in our daily life. Nothing can come close to the love that a mother showers her children with. That is one important relationship which makes me who I am today. I can proudly say that most women are excellent mothers. They carry their young before they are born and continue to nurture them throughout their childhood and even into adulthood. Mothers also make sure that their children are safe and happy throughout their growing stage. It is the unconditional love that a mother feels that drives these feelings. Raising children comes with many frustrations, from the needy new born baby that requires regular care to the sullen teenager. A motherââ¬â¢s role is really commendable as they always put their children before anything else, including their comfort and happiness. My strong relationship with my mother made me come to a realization that to experience intimacy in relationships, it is important to build trust, openness and self-awareness when relating. Under the care of my mother for almost 18 years, I have learnt to be a person of good values and I will not stop improving myself! Some of the more qualities which I am more influenced are like ââ¬â generous, trustworthy, humble, lovable and easy going. I have learnt that self-awareness is having a clear perception of your personality, including strengths, weaknesses, thoughts, beliefs, motivation, and emotions. It allows me to understand other people, how they perceive me, my attitude and my responses to them in the moment. Having to develop self-awareness, I am able to change the interpretations in my mind and thus allowing me to change my emotions. This is important because I feel that it is self-awareness that can allow me to be aware of where my thoughts and emotions are actually taking me. Relationships are easy until there is emotional turmoil. This is similar whether one is at work or in his/her personal life. I feel that when one can master to change the interpretation in his/her own mind of emotions will effect on the emotional quality of the relationship. When one can change the emotions in his/her relationship, then new possibilities are opened up entirely in his/her life. From lesson 1, I have learnt that self-awareness is developed through practices in focusing your attention on the details of your personality and behavior. It isnââ¬â¢t learned from reading a book. It is just like when we read a book, we are focusing all of our attention on the conceptual ideas in the book. With our attention focused in a book, one is actually only practicing but not paying attention to his/her own behavior, emotions and personality. One of the few important points that I have learnt to instill self-awareness is to identify my strength and weaknesses and never be afraid to look into the mirror to ponder or reflect about the positive traits I have in myself. In other words, it is engaging in self-affirmation. I have learnt that with self-awareness, this will help the relationship with my loved ones to be a more quality driven one because once I have learnt to love and value myself, I am then able to cherish my partner more without having to care how others judge us. Lesson 1 is definitely an enjoyable and valuable lesson and it has taught me many useful life long skills to prepare myself in future relationships.
